Bugger well first trip of the season and it would appear my season is over.
Currently is hospital in Moutiers. After skiing all last week friday night I slipped in resort and ended up in an ambulance.
After multiple xrays and cat scans. I was operated on yesterday. Break just below knee, single screw.
Epidural is the weirdest thing ever.

So what happens next? How long will it take me to get back up and moving?
Guess I will be cancelling my trip to val in two weeks frown
And possible the two trips I had in march frown

How do I get fit again and rebuild this muscle back up?
And and all ideas gratefully received.

Yes I am officially a tit.

I can't imagine the surgeon would be to happy for you to be skiing on this leg for a good 6 months if not more. The best thing you can be doing is to try and maintain your quad muscles in your injured leg. These muscles waste very quickly when not being used.

Are you in plaster? Keep tightening your quad muscles by pushing your knee into the bed and lifting your leg straight up off the bed, only small amounts to start with.

You will need to be followed up by your own hospital in their fracture clinic when you return and probably will need physio to get back the strength and function of the injured leg.

Guess I was kind of lucky smile well ish.
Still here, poker skills improving. Pain becoming less acute.
Not in plaster but in a brace.

They have mentioned I will need to go to hospital on my return to the UK.
Also that I will need phsyio on my return.

Will cycling help?
Well that's it for this season need something else to do. Race season starts at snett end of March, hopefully cycling till then.

Thanks all

Physio will be crucial

I have never had a bone break but have done ligaments.

Muscle wasteage will be a big issue so you need to get working on those muscles

Also i have had a lot of physios, some good some bad, so dont be afraid to move to one who doesnt seem great.

Got back to the UK late last night. Damn it's good to be back smile
Off to GP for referral and prescription. Not sure the pharmacy will accept the one from my french surgeon wink and in typical fashion the onsite hospital pharmacy was closed.

Muscle wastage will be amazing - I've damaged my left knee and as a result of nannying it basically have lost most of my quad! It's incredible and, until the physio showed me, I wouldnt have believed it.
