Hello,

I'd like to ask if any of you good folks have experience or advice regarding back pain and car seat set up?

I'm currently off work with a lower back muscle spasm, 5 days so far and extremely bored/annoyed. The root cause is bad posture, my spine is way out of line and I've been visiting the chiropractor since September to get it sorted. The curent spasm came on the day after a long drive (Isle of Mull to Surrey - 550 miles shared) so I'm thinking that the long term exposure to sitting in the car can't be helping.

Posture at work is possible to correct with the right seat and desk etc.

But for the car, does anybody have hints and tips about setting up the seat / steering wheel to avoid poor posture? Also, I'm thinking of changing cars in the next few weeks, does anytbody have any advice on which cars have better / worse seat for back pain?

Current car is a MkV GOlf GT TDi (sports type seats).

thanks in advance,

Cheers
The Paw

I used to get bad back spasms after a couple of hours of "spirited" driving, Evo IV, VERY firm ride, Recaro seats! I know it sounds a bit silly but i found a memory foam seat and back cushion from Halfrauds sorted it out for £30. Fits every car i've tried it in and looks ok, nice and thick. Might be worth a try?

I've found that a very upright seat with the lumbar support fully 'dialled in' helped me a lot. Maybe worth a try?

The seats in the saab 9 5 are about as good as it gets.
I had similar probs (thought I was going to have to sell the 944 Turbo I had just bought) but found putting a rolled up towel behind my lower thigh / knee took the strain off my lower back and solved my probs
