I've got flu. It sucks. And as with previous times I've been ill with these sorts of bugs for any length of time I've got a rather unpleasant sort of acidic taste in my mouth. I presume this is linked to your body burning its fat reserves or something - do you start to go into ketosis?

Lost your appetite? I'd always assumed it was a build up of bacteria in the mouth.

Nope, my appetite is very strong now I'm starting to recover. It's an unpleasant slightly vinegary sort of taste in the back of my throat (and no, it's not there usually!) Just wondered if there was a scientific reason.

lack of smell sensation affects taste....prob this. ketosis is rare.
