Ive had a cold for a few days, blocked nose, sore throat and my ears feel a bit clogged. I havent had a cold for about a year but sitting on the sofa today i noticed my heart was racing and then I felt a bit short of breath. I properly started stting myself which obviously made matters worse. Do you think having been breathing through my mouth may have triggered it through-I dunno-a lack of oxygen. Im nearly 31 and ive been on 20 a day for two years. Im overweight too, 16 stone 5ft 9ish.

Yes, being unwell and having a temperature can raise your heart rate. As long as you get no pain and it goes back to normal.
Good opportunity to quit the fags and lose some weight wink

Decongestants can increase the heart rate.

Have noticed my Heart rate has gone up since I had that virus.

Only way to get it down is more Cardio training.

Ive had plenty of vicks vapour rub and some paracetomol. Haven't had a fag since about 17.00 yesterday.

By decongestants, I meant products containing active ingredients such as phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine.

Yeah sounds about right, it could also be due to the fact you may have been hyperventilating when breathing trough your mouth, which may have raised your heartrate, but more than likely what mrsshpub said is the reason, although at your height, unless you are muscley then i would think about quitting the cigs(says mr 5 a day) and think about losing a bit of weight
