Been feeling a bit under the weather for a few days - too many social trips and poor sleep due to my useless mattress. I also noticed I was making silly mistakes, like tripping over things, not seeing road hazards in time, and today I shut my finger in the car door. Didn't really feel like driving 20 miles to a family dinner last night but felt I should, and was actually fine and got back at 12.45am stinking of cigarette smoke.

Also didn't want to turn out for a pub lunch today but didn't want to let people down... well by 3.00pm I was feeling very feeble and cold and my head and neck ached, and left early, went home, had a hot bath to warm myself up, then went to bed and hoped a nice long warm sleep would fix it.

After a couple of hours of fitful dozing, I remembered I had another lunch date tomorrow, and really had to cancel, so I came down to fire up the PC and send an e-mail. Except that the moment I came down, I suddenly felt very weak, dizzy and sick, and ended up on all fours in the bog trying not to pass out. My whole body was tingly and sweating. Well nature took its chance and about a minute later I yakked up a beef sandwich. Once I'd washed out the acid clag from my nose and throat and got my breath back, I instantly felt much better.

It remains to be seen if that's the end of it...

Food poisoning, flu or something else?

AFAIK bulimia is mental, not physical. Plus I'm 48 and I'd probably know if I deliberately made myself sick!

Going back to bed now...

Probably just a stomach bug I had a bad one back in Sept could not even hold down water.

If you get the trots and your kidneys start to ache like 10 rounds with Mike Tyson then it's probably Norovirus. I had it a few years ago and felt like a big bowl of crap for 10 days.

Alternatively it could be any one of a number of bugs, particularly as you honked up.

Hope you feel better after a night's sleep.

Thanks all - well I'm still alive, helluva night though, sweating like a pig and backache as well due to my useless mattress (must get a new one today). Should really have some breakfast but don't feel like eating. It didn't help that much of the conversation yesterday seemed to be about death, dying and cancer!

When I'm hanging out of my ringpiece, vomiting never seems like a very attractive proposition, but it certainly makes you fell 100x better...

I am lucky enough to rarely get ill, perhaps a cold once every year or so (like today!), but norovirus I got, and it took me out for two weeks, and my appetite did not return for nearly a month after that.

Horrific virus. I would not wish it on... hang on, I wish it on Harriet Harmon. And that northern politicion who looked like a great naked molerat woman, whatshername...from salford...

Yes I have had this before, felt poor all day and then had a massive puke and it all felt better. A while before you often know its coming but don't want it to - then relief after.
