Umbilical hernias
Discussion
my baby has a huge umbilical hernia. The peads are aware of it and advised provided it doesn't strangulate then leave it and wait for it to go. Was happy with this as daughter had golf ball sized one too.
Except this one us still growing... it's grown out so much it is now growing down if that makes sense. Baby is 11 weeks old and 7.5lbs - this thing is bigger than a golfball...
Anyway I presume the advise will remain don't do anything unless it strangulates as this is what is best for baby. But it is gross - it is full of bowel and it presses against me and makes a gross noise when feeding. Yuk!

My daughter had one, back in the olden days (21 years ago) I was advised to put a cotton pad over it then a 2p and bandage it on around her middle. It did go back in of it's own accord, but at the time it looked pretty horrific. She was only 3 weeks early but I was told it was pretty common in early babies.
