Just went out for planned 20 mile or so cycle.

I have been out four weeks due to a minor operation, so haven't done anything strenous untill today.

I got to the top of a hill, and stopped as my mate said his chest hurt, I stopped and almost passed out..!! Not like me at all.

Now is this just me having eaten not enough carbs before had? Or just that I have eaten st for the last few days and not raised my heartrate for a while??

You've been out four weeks. You aren't as fit as before, but you are attempting some full on cardiovascular in cold air. I'd say your body isn't processing oxygen at the rate your muscles require it, and your body is protesting accordingly. Take it easy and enjoy what you are doing. You'll be back to original fitness in time.
Now, I'm off outside for a fag. smile

What he said ^^^^

What sort of operation was it? I had my appendix removed and it took a good few weeks if not months to get my fitness back to where it was.

through experience my CV performance suffers faster than muscle depletion (getting weaker) in times of lay off, hence lack of oxygen.

It was a hernia op..

Ok so maybe I just need to ease myself back in gently. I was trying to attack a 3 lap session of Richmond Park you see. It was fooking cold too.

Richmond Park is not a gentle introduction if you ask me (I take it you went anti-clockwise, so as to avoid the short steeeep hill with the car park at the top?!). Could well be a diet/hydration issue too, if your usual diet has lapsed.

Seems like you have started way too soon after your hernia op. IMO you shouldnt tackle anything like this for 10-12 weeks after the op as tempting as it is!!

The wound has healed over, I feel fine when I move about. So I thought I would do a cycle as it doesn't really excersise the same muscles.

But yes I went anti, and yes my diet has been ste for a month. But that changes now as I am back at home..
