Im off skiing in 5 weeks time and need to start a fitness regime as I have been a lazy git and have not done any exercise at all since my last skiing holiday a year ago(every day I get into my car, drive to my office, and then drive home)
I was thinking of going out on my pushbike every night for an hour or so to put some strength back into my legs,a doctor friend of mine has recommended running up the stairs 100 times a day, every day until the holiday.
Whats the best way to ensure my legs dont turn to jelly after going down the first run on the first day????

In a way that I suppose that is an option-have as many as possible and dont get up for skiing the next day!!

Im nearly 40 now so Im past the mad drinking phase(and have the scars to prove it from yesteryear)

Start this?:

You'll be nearly finished if you manage to get to the week 5 stage.

Cycling ?

Amongst general fitness training, I can also remember doing a lot of wall leaning when we were training for skiing trips (stand with back against a wall, then drop into a seated position with 90 degree bend at the knees). Likely it would kill me to do more than a minute or two these days..

I'm 40 and still works for me! but just the one, with a top up at 11:30 I promise you it works! exercise... well if you must, try walking...... does the upper thighs nicely.

I walked 6 miles yesterday pushing the littl'n into town in her pushchair.

I was bloody knackered when I got home.

I think the key would be to do a variety of execises - running, cycling, swimming, maybe some weight training if you have access to that. I've never been skiiing, but i'd imaging you use an awful lot of different muscles doing it. Ideally you want to get as many muscles as possible used to working to hopefully avoid/lessen the inevitable aching on your hols

Seriously, looks great fun and when the adrenalin kicks in you will be fine, have a great time.

Sadly Mr13th and I have other things to do this year so really quite envious.
