I bring up these small off white lumps of stuff. They range in size from a pin head to a large pea. They are a dull faded yellow/beige amd have the consistency of finely chewed peanut - when you squash them they flatten and break up. They absolutely reek of bile/something hideous - imagine the worst halitosis and thats it.

Any idea what on earth these things are??? At first I thought they were something I'd eaten that hadnt gone down properly but they happen at odd times and dont seem to have any particular link to stuff I've eaten.

Sounds a bit like hardened/aged pus; have you had an infection/non-specific lurgy recently? ENT time I think, better safe than sorry.

That sounds most likely. I havent had anything recently but I had a terrible sore throat on and off for about 2 months at the start of last year...will check with the gp I think.

Dont think its the Tonsil rocks, they are not hard enough and I've not had a sore throat for ages and sneezed up a biggun just now.

They 100% definitely sound like tonsil stones/tonsiloliths. Don't have to be hard.

I get them occasionally. They are a collection of fetid foodstuff/mucus that accumulated in the tonsil crypts. When I get them they're soft and pasty.

Harmless and only really need to do anything if they are making your breath smell like a lepers sandal.

I went to the GP initially as I kept getting the urge to swallow constantly. Went to the ENT bloke who told me I had an oesophageal bolus....effectively his way of saying "feck knows". I then researched it myself and found these pesky tonsil stones buggers.

It still might be worth a trip to the GP and maybe a look round by the ENT fella and his magic camera to rule out anything nasty. I would bet large amounts of money you have tonsil stones though. I've done nothing and they have gradually become less frequent.
