sneeze ?? confused

It always happens. You see one of those big ones protruding from your nose so you give it a tug and pull it out, then I always sneeze afterwards. Does it happen to everybody else ?

Also if I stick a cotton bud too far into my ear it makes me cough - does it do the same to you ?

Those hairs are there to tell your body it needs to eject something out of your snotter.
Also, if you poke earbuds that far into your ear coughing may well be the least of your worries, and I say that as someone who has had, over 17 years, five operations on my ears and at 33 has a hearing aid and tinitus like you would not believe.

Do other people get surprised when you pull one out and it turns out to have originated far further in than you thought possible?!

Do you think they get longer with age as well? Hmm, not that I have any of course, except for that big black bugger that will only come out for a choccy biccy. Oops, sorry that is for the Sean Connery joke thread.

I secretly always hope for that, it's a nice surprise when you find out it originated on your brain stem!

I get the same symptoms, though only my left ear makes me cough, the right one is fine

Not noticed it to be honest, i tend to just grip the hairs and rip them out, it only makes you wince the first time you do it, after that no problems.

Yes, being a mathematician I've calculated that if I live til 84 then if I trim them before bed I run the risk of tripping over them as I get out of bed the following morning. Oh the joys of getting old.

What amazes me is that one day you are all clear and the next day there is something a Wookiee would be proud of protruding - where was it before????

I lay them out on my keyboard while I marvel at how long they actually are.

Do they actually do anything? Sometimes a plucking session can go too far and i wonder whether i'll miss them.

They filter the air as you breathe in through the nose - bugger all use if you're like one of the legions of Neanderthal man that looks like a gawk whilst sucking air in through a gapping mouth.......or maybe that's just a "youff fing".

Put a warm flannel over your nose for 3 or 5 mins. this opens the pores and makes the hairs easyer to pull.
