Afternoon all,

Didn't want to trouble my doctor as it seems fairly trivial, but for the last week or so I've had this right pain in the arse. Feels like a muscular pain just below my bum cheek. Yep. Got that... hehe

I'm not sure quite how it would have happened but I can't believe it's my hamstring, purely because I can still happily run 5k odd, and I can't think of anything I've done to such a big, fat muscle confused

It tends to be fine/completely painless 90% of the time, niggly occasionally on bending (shoelaces for example), and downright bloody painful when getting up, lowering into a car, moving a clutch pedal etc.

confused

It feels like a muscular problem, as the pain intensity is the same as when I pulled my trapezius.

Hope someone has an idea smile

Sciatica? I'm not a doctor by the way.

I had a similar pain when my Sciatica appeared (after a disc prolapse). The pain for me was in back of my thigh and around my left bottom cheek. It hurt when stretching as the muscles were tight and were pulling and stretching underneath my bum cheek. I know everything is linked as passes under there.

Hope this helps!

I'd go with Sciatica. Is the pain deep within the cheek?

The sciatic nerve passes through there and down the back of the leg. Mine was catching near a back disc but the pain was in the butt cheek. Worse when I'd been sat down and then had to stand up quickly.

Either that or bum aids.

Cool, so is it just a temporary thing? Been taking a couple of painkillers for it.

It sounds like it could be sciatica. Keep active, keep taking the painkillers and try not to aggravate it by looking after your posture. It should settle on its own but you might find physio helpful.

Mine needed physio but a milder case will respond to Ibuprofen and stretching.

Lie on the floor face down, hands as though you're doing a press up. (tuck nads out of the way first).
Arch your head and chest upwards and feel the compression in your lower back. Breathe out forcefully and you should be able to get some extra motion (as though you're pressing your belly button into the floor).

Repeat for 10 daily.
