I hope this is a simple one - My son (who doesn't live with us and I'm planning on seeing tomorrow) had chicken pox on Saturday/Sunday and should be clear of it by now - If I see him and he still has it, can I pass it on to my daughter (who does live with us).

Varicella zoster virus,

highly contagious via the liquid that comes out of the vesicles (spots)

but a mild disease in children and probably better that you just get through it as a child as it's not so benign if you get it as an adult.

Fastidious handwashing should lessen the chances of transmission.

I would have said no, you are only infectious before the spots show and whilst they are weeping (spots scab over dead quick)

Skin is dry and you may be ok. I got it off my nephew and it really was a horrid experience as an adult! Looked and felt terrible. Still have a few left over marks!!
