So I have shin splints, so am avoiding any kind of impact damage through running. My local gym has a few ellipticals which I've generally found rather good. However, recently I'm getting pretty horrible pain in my feet when using it, I'm not out of breath or tired, but have to stop when the pain builds.

What gives? My trainers are good running trainers (I've had my running pattern assessed) am I just not using the thing properly?

I get a similar problem with the cross ramp. My feet go through the pins and needles stage and then toes go completely numb. General ankle area is painfull.

When I asked on here, this stretch was recommended, which has helped a bit. I used to be in pain after about 15 mins, after 20 feet were completely numb. Now this takes at least 30 minutes to happen, at which point I just move the the exercise bike and they return to normal.

Sit on the floor, legs together out straight. Cross your right leg over your left and then bend/raise your right knee up towards your chest keeping your right foot on the ground (still crossed effectivley). Put your left hand on your right knee and pull to the left. Turn your head/torso to the right. You should now be able to feel muscles in your right buttocks stetching. hold this for 10 secs. Repeat for other leg.
