I somehow managed to chip rather a large bit of tooth off, from one of my back teeth about a year ago now, i've not done anything with it, it never hurt or caused issue before so if its not hurting then its fine... well not really...

Because of that, i've had a crack spead through the bottom of the tooth which has now opened up, its aching nicely but its not properly killing me, what can i do to fill the crack...hehe

I've called the dentist, they cant fit me in for 2-3weeks and as its close to christmas i cant really afford to spend out just yet, so what are my options?

You can book an emergency appointment with a NHS dentist - try phoning around.

Boots do an emergency filling kit too.

JB weld.

Seriously though, you can actually buy temporary filling material. BUt just ring your doc, he will say what a ridiculous wait, and refer you to the out of hours emergency dentist. Or just call the docs out of hours and the PCT will put you though!

I'd go and sit in the waiting room and get it seen to. It might be a dull ache at the moment but when it hits the nerve you are going to be smacking your head against the wall just to divert your attention from the pain of your tooth.

Don't wait until it really hurts because invariably it will start doing so at lunchtime saturday and you will be fked until Monday AM.

Oh and BTW forget painkillers and oil of cloves the only thing that numbs toothache is very strong skunk. hippy

What Ray said.

NHS dentist saw me the following day.

Just to warn you though... don't expect any nice conversation, and quite possibly a chap in the chair that resembles Dr Kildare! (I done a rhyme!)

What he said, and in the meantime get yourself a bottle of Peroxyl mounthwash and clean your teeth with it instead of toothpaste, it's great stuff for tooth ache.

Yes yes - don't turn up to the dentist toasted - you'll only get paranoid about the fact that it's going to hurt and everyone in the waiting room is looking at you.

Use only as an emergency pain relief. Its very good at that.

FFS that means going to Swindon though hehe

I'll make sure i don't before i go in, not that i'm a massive smoker though.

I cant get away from work untill tomorrow Pm so will just have to wait and see if i can get to the doc in time, if not, i'll just have to get very stoned untill monday.

May as well give the diy filling a go untill then though!

Do as my OH done - step one take plenty Drugs
step two get a sharp knife
step three cut said tooth out of mouth - it will bleed for a while but will end up ok
step four take more drugs just to make sure you dont feel the pain for a few days

oh yes that is true
