Smacked my funny bone off a motor at work over a week ago and since then my pinky and right side of my hand (left hand) have felt slightly numb/tingly.

What's the crack then?

Obviously, although I don't think many people would have a clue what I was on about if I'd said I hit my ulnar nerve.

We do have a 'funny bone' - it's called the medial epicondyle. You're right though that it's when the ulnar nerve gets pressed against bone that it hurts like hell. It'll heal...just that nerves take a relatively long time to heal.

It's not sore, or annoying really, it's just 'there'.

As its taken over a week and the symptoms are still there I'll guess it'll take about three months for the nerve completely recovers.

Let us know when it does, would be good to have another timing to add to the nerve damage table.

I'm not a doctor, just someone with a strong interest in recovery from nerve damage.

There is a syndrome similar to carpal tunnel in the hand, where the median nerve runs through a groove in the elbow: Cubital tunnel syndrome. If that tunnel, or nerve, has become inflamed or deformed, swollen etc, the nerve can be partially compressed, causing the numbness in the hand.

You may have bruised the nerve, or the bone, causing swelling and inflammation etc.

I'm not a doctor either, but I've had one CTS operation and did loads or research on the problem before hand. biggrin
