My eye sight seems to have deteriorated rapidly over the past 2-3 weeks, I went the opticians the other day, and they confirmed that I was indeed short sighted and would need glasses to drive (I was only just legal to drive!), watch TV etc. When I said it seemed to have happened quickly, they say no, I was more likely that I’ve only just started to notice it as it was getting darker earlier and I’d been fining it harder to see when driving etc..

The thing is, when I got forza 3 about , I could read all the lap times, leader boards etc, perfectly clearly ( sitting about 12-13ft away from a 42” lcd tv). Then one night the split time appeared blurred to me. I put this down to tiredness, but the same thing the next day, blurred and only readable when squinting. So when I was out with a mate, I asked him the read a road sign about 30-40ft away, he could read it, I couldn’t.

Has anyone else on here experienced rapid sight loss like this?

I've been short sighted for about 32 years. I can remember 1 week being able to see the shadows on the moon, & the next week I couldn't. I'm now about -5.75 in both eyes. So yes I'd say it can go very quickly. Congrats on going fairly rapidly though to someone who will help you.

yup, although my eyes haven't deteriorated as much as yours.
I get my eyes tested on a regular basis (every 2 years), only because I get nectar vouchers to have one free which prompts me to go but I digress..
I started getting headaches last year October ish time generally while watching tv & driving at night but, as you did, put it down to tiredness initially, went & saw the doctor to cover other possibles & thought hey due an eyetest, lets check that too so went first week of Dec.. prescribed glasses, headaches went away.
the optician actually asked if during the appointment if I could still read roadsigns?!

How old are you and when was your last eye test? If your prescription has changed rapidly, the optician should ensure there are no other problems going on with your eye, or with your general health. If you have problems with your general health, sometimes it may affect your eye and consequently you should be referred to an Ophthalmologist.

Last had my eyes tested in about 2001-02 so I would have been 18-19. No problems with health as far as I know. Maybe I should just have a general check up.

Would be interesting to know what your prescriptions were and what they are now.

I don't know what they were, but I know I had near perfect sight. Now they're Right -0.75 and Left -0.50

That's a very minor prescription. You may not even need glasses for distance with that level of prescription, though glasses might sharpen you up a bit. When people have very good vision, they become quite sensitive to fairly minor changes. Don't worry.
