For the past 2-3 days I get what feels like a stabbing pain in my throat when I swallow this also every now and again creates pain in my ears, this of course makes it very uncomfortable to eat/drink, I'm wondering if the pain is a side effect from what I would say is slight cold symptoms? I don't have a full on cold as I can breathe through my nose, sounds strange but nothing/very little comes out when I blow my nose and for what of a better phrase.. the snot doesn't feel far enough back to sniff back and spit out! head feels a bit heavy and at the start I felt achey all over, am I suffering from 'bad aids'? it can't be swine flu as my nails haven't started to go yellow!

You have what is technically known as a sore throat. Try strepsils.

Tried them and didn't do much, had normal 'sore throat' before and strepsils worked well, this time however, the pain feels to be comming from the top right at the back sort of where throat is connected to nasal airway.

Ok, more helpfully... Have you tried an anaesthetic spray, or gargling soluble aspirin?

I had an infection in the back of the throat once, causing a swelled, pus filled abscess at the back of my throat. No idea why, but good God, it hurt. See a doctor. I ignored it for ages, thinking it was a cold/sore throat, almost got to having to operate stage.

If you open your mouth wide and look in the mirror can you see white spots on your tonsils?

No white spots at back of mouth, will try the spray as this might hit the spot better than strepsils, thanks for all your replies
