I've posted a few threads on here about getting fitter and how it was all coming together, some weight lost and starting to really see the benefit. However, I'm sat on a train coming back from a stag weekend with my knee heavily bandaged and unable to use my left arm. Utterly perfect. Just perfect.

I was playing 5-aside football, was running and collapsed in a crumpled heap. Spectators said it looked like a sniper had taken me out from some hidden position, but actually my knee randomly gave way, causing me to collapse onto my arm and tear(?) something in my forearm.

I can just about walk today with a tight bandage on, but any kind of lateral movement is very painful. My arm is useless.

So - how long am I likely to be out? Do I need to see a physio?

I suppose I'll get the answers when I go and see the Doc, so more a post to vent to be honest.

I would hazard a guess you are going to be out for weeks/months rather than days/weeks. However, I'm no expert other than being a tubby middle aged bloke that is trying to get fit and keeps injuring himself.

Get to the Docs. If you have private medical cover, so much the better.

Good news. Doc thinks I've just torn a little bit of the external knee ligament (?) which should sort itself out in 2-3 weeks or so. Same with my tricep.

That could have been worse!
