the last few days, ive had what i can only describe as a metallic almost acidic taste in my mouth, nothing shifts it. my breath seems no worse. and today, my tongue is quite swollen, it looks like a Cornish pasty now on the sides.

what is causing it? and how can i get rid of the bloody taste, its horrible

Get to a doctor ASAP. Better safe than sorry.

Don't wanna scare but last time I heard about those symptoms was in a certain book by John Diamond...

PS you haven't just had a tongue piercing have you?

Do you smoke or drink a lot (of alcoholic drinks, obviously)?

It does suggest that if your tongue is swelling up, you should seek emergency help...

Sell your story to the Currant Bun, eh?

BTW best option is to give them a call. They'll ask you a few questions which could help identify the problem or at least give you an idea of how urgent things are.

sticking your head in and out of a very large magnetic field (several Tesla) can produce a metallic taste in your mouth that persists for a while.

Are you saying that driving an electric supercar can leave a bad taste in your mouth?

I got something very similar a few years ago and I was in pain for weeks with even a few days in hospital. I spent the whole time feeling pretty good remembering how I had got it though.....
