I have just found out a new friend has Crohns decease, and was wondering if anyone on here has it?
I would like to help, but don't want to ask direct questions and want to learn a bit for my self. How does it effect you and your daily life?

A friend's gf has it. She spends around 5 weeks in hospital a year, has a very irritable bowel and gets ulcers in her colon. There has been talk of her needing a 'bag' at some point. Given that she is only 23 makes it even more of a shame.

Stress and diet affect it.

Your friend may not have such serious symptoms though. Don't make him/her a nice vegetable soup will you!

Sounds like Ulcerative Colitis to me, Crohns is inflammatory bowel disease which causes blockages, Mr Eggle if you are concerned
about your new friendship, you cannot catch these afflictions.

I know I can't "catch" it, I just wanted to know what to be aware of, and how to handle the situation?

Sorry if my reply was condescending, I know of a few sufferers, they keep they're inconveniences to themselves and portray a normal
happy go lucky lifestyle, I obviously respect their "attacks", and toilet humour is ok.

My mum got it quite severely 15 years ago which resulted in her having her bowel removed and a bag installed. It did impact on her life but when treated correctly is not life threatening and can be easiy lived with. If it's been caught early then things should be fine.

Talk to your friend, I would imagine they would find it theraputic to have someone to chat to about it.

All the best to you and your friend.
