Creatine question
Discussion
A couple of years ago i was told that you shouldn't drink coffee whilst being on creatine or the effects will be cancelled out. I was told this by someone that worked in a gym but have never heard anyone else mention this. I've just started taking creatine ethyl ester and wandering whether i should cut out caffeine completely.
When I was in uni I did my thesis on sports supplements and all the literature then said that caffeine may have a 'blocking' effect on creatine absorption if taken within 15mins of each other.
So for ths reason i avoid taking creatine near my coffee. Best time to take it is immediately after exercise with a high glyceamic carbohydrate source. This will result in an insulin spike forcing it into the muscles quicker.
But, I still see some companies advertise creatine actually in combination with caffeine so maybe they know diffeent???
sorry not a good answer

this might be off the topic but i can not handle creatine. i had maximuslces version and it just came me the sts straight away! i literally drank it with orange juice and 3 mins later was crying in the bog.
Off topic but funny.;)I find that the creatine powder makes me very bloated and nauseous for hours.
Its made me feel so ill I stopped taking it.

Just remember that whenever you start with a new supplement start with a small dose!
I was expecting you or CHIEF to pop up I've taken creatine before now but only monohydrate. The etyl ester dose that is on the labels doesn't seem much any way. Two days in it seems all good, if i get any side effects i'll half the dose or something. I'll definately bare in mind the low does to begin with if i start on something completely new from now on. I took it with Lucozade and lots and lots of water. I never got the sts and never had any ill side effects. I think I only took it for 3 -6 months.
I've only heard of a few getting them and also stomach cramps. Never had any issues with anything yet (touch wood).3-6 months sounds a long time. Was that straight or with breaks?

Ive heard a few rumours about creatine, and have only had 1 batch of it, thinking about getting the Maximuscle stuff but aint got the money to spare atm, and this thing about caffine i guess you cant drink redbull and coke etc
Well i've been on the CEE since the beginning of this week and had no side effects as of yet. But i didn't with the mono. The guy above said within 15 minutes of each other. It could because some creatine needs a carrier system. Maximuscle stuff is quite expensive. Which are you looking at?RJB_666 said:

Not a lover of creatine to be honest although i only took the early stuff when it first came out. The only thing i noticed was my muscles contracting harder. I've not taken the new stuff so cant comment on that. Ok it may look as if your muscles are larger but maybe this is water retention.
A decent fast acting protein after a workout and a couple of nana's beforehand. I also am a big believer in L-Glutamine - it definetely makes you recover quicker.
