Anybody Have Knowledge Of CICA Injury Cassifications??
Discussion
Des anybody out there have knowledge of how the CICA classify injuries as I could do with a little advise please? The tariff on their website is open to interpretation somewhat.
For example, "mutiple facial fractures - e.g. Le Fort 2 fracture", what other "multiple fractures" are covered, would nasal bone, maxilla, temporal bone & supraorbital foramen be individually classified or combined under the heading "multiple fractures"?

I'm guessing I'm the only one here who knows what the Le Fort system of fractures are, so you're unlikely to get an answer to this quite difficult question. Sadly I fix bones outside of the face and skull. For example, "mutiple facial fractures - e.g. Le Fort 2 fracture", what other "multiple fractures" are covered, would nasal bone, maxilla, temporal bone & supraorbital foramen be individually classified or combined under the heading "multiple fractures"?

I would recommend writing to them at CICA as this sort of classification/compensation system usually has to be completely transparent, and therefore an enquiry from you has to be taken in good faith and some reasonable replies issued from the top.
They say LeFort dropped cannonballs onto dead peoples faces and then dissected out the fractures to come up with that system. Fascinating, and definitely something from the "good old days" (1869 – 1951)
I had a claim in with them a couple of years ago.
Do you have the handbook they send you? ISTR this may have been a bit clearer than the website.
But still, it wasnt exactly obvious.
Finally - beware.
It takes - F**CKING AGES.
Really, like take the piss kind of ages.
26 months I think it was for me.
