Roasted insoles?

I'm after some insoles for my trainers, I understand that the ideal is to get some custom made, but if I have no way of getting to a shop then...

I'm sure I read somewhere of some insoles that you heated up a bit, put in shoe, let cool slightly, then wear them for an hour, so it moulds exactly to your foot?
