An NHS hospital patient disgusted by the food has put photographs online and challenged friends to identify meals in a game of "hospital food bingo".

Here's his blog:

Looks like he had some sort of pork chop thing for dinner last night.

Doesn't look that bad to me! He seems to be well enough to still be posting articulately, so obviously isn't on the verge of dying from malnutrition.

That said, I'm often leaving the hospital at dinner time, and some of the smells are pretty interesting.

I know exactly where he is coming from having spent 3 months of my life in hospital over the last 2 years. The food is bogging. When I was in one place, then my wife would bring me dinner every night and if she couldn't, then I'd get a takeaway with the nurses on the night shift. Unfortunately when I got stuffed into an isolation ward, that wasn't allowed anymore and I had to make do with what was served. Bleuugh...

What annoys me is that prisoners get better food than those in hospital...

I genuinely reckon they make the food so bad in an effort to make people want to go homefrown

I've spent years in the BRI (Bristol) and have developed a safety system:

Salads - yep
Curries - yep
Fish - yep
Saute / chipped / roast spuds - yep
Carrots - yep
Sponge puddings / pies etc & custard - double portions often scrounged!

Greens - occasionally

Mash - never

Most other foods - not identifiable

Spent 2 weeks in Kingston Hospital a few years ago. Can't complain, really. Went there to be fixed not fed.

Next time I'll demand to be served by Jamie Oliver as his restaurant isn't far away, shall I?
