Anyone else bite their nails?

I do, out of trimming rather than nervousness, and only do it when needed.
I have seen plenty of people who do it all the time, and they are left with these bloody flaky stumps
Same here.Got it down to a fine art now and they don't look much different than they would using clippers etc.I have seen plenty of people who do it all the time, and they are left with these bloody flaky stumps
I "did" bite my nails for 30 years. (skin too!)
I recently took up "wet-shaving" with a safety razor and badger brush. Once I got used to taking care of my facial appearance I started to care about other aspects of my image.
I, like you was unhappy about my fingernail scenario so decided to change. I did, (except currently three of my nails are bitten as mum starts chemo tomorrow and am a touch worried!) everytime I caught myself biting my nails I would be disappointed in me!
The biggest problem when you've bitten your nails for so long is the shape of your fingers. After relentlessly exposing the nail bed for years on end I have changed the point at which my nails become detached from the skin underneath, This in turn leads my nails to be excessively long when trying to grow a useful piece of nail beyond my fingertip. Which makes them weak and vulnerable.
My thoughts on this particular problem revolve around DIY surgery and superglue. I haven't tried either yet.
So my advice is to take up a new ritual that benefits your appearance. You may find the motivation to improve other areas in your life if you do!

I used to bite my nails all the time.
I had an operation to remove a tumor from my nasal cavity a few years ago, and since then, the thought of biting my nails is abhorrent to me, much the same as finger nails down a blackboard.
Due to the same op, I also find the idea of picking my nose bad too, I just cant do it.
