Have I broken my foot?
Discussion
Yes I know, asking an internet forum and all that...
A week ago last Monday, on a bike ride, I inadvertently became invisible and half way through completing a right turn, a car decided to turn right out of the side road straight in to my leg. The car definitely impacted my leg and then the bike, causing a severe fracture of the tib and fib. My foot didn't hurt as all the quite considerable pain was in the leg.
Queue ambulance, hospital, xrays, surgery, recovery, cast, stay in hospital, crutches, going home, keeping leg raised.
After a week from the op I started to reduce my pain meds so I am not effectively overdosing as they aren't good for the liver and all that.
My leg is fine. Swelling gone down and all seems well. The trouble is my foot now really hurts! The part of your foot where it is the widest is causing me most grief. It is still swollen, painful to touch and hurts a bit if I wiggle my toes.
I don't really care if it is broken as I am not walking on it or anything. Do I bother with a GP visit and then another trip to the bloody hospital? Am I likely to be causing any damage/preventing healing?
I am only in two minds because:
- my leg and foot is already in a cast, what else can they do?
- I am back to the clinic next week for stitches and a xray, I can ask them to do my foot then
- the pain is OK if I take my maximum allowance and don't wiggle anything!
Your advice please...
