I know chaps, PH isn't a health forum etc, but a little prevention goes a long way. Testiclar Cancer is a secret killer that need not be. so have a good rummage around and if you find something, don't ignore it see the chap in the white coat at the Surgery.

Obviously its terrible and a horrible ordeal to go through.

But if you know there is something there, that shouldn't be you are bringing it on yourself just leaving it. Very silly thing to do from him. And I am sure he regrets it, as it could and likley will cost him his life.

I found what I thought was a lump once. Had to go to the docs with it as gf forced me even though I wanted to pretend I hadn't found it.

Off we trek to the docs, fit female doctor too, has a feel and then asks my girlfriends permission to peel my foreskin back. One of the strangest situations I have ever been in. However, glad I got it checked out instead of leaving it. I had all sorts of scans, turned out the lump was just where the little strings that hold them connect to the testicle - thats how she described it.

9 times out of 10 it is nothing to worry about apparently but my advice is get it checked.

I had a similar thing (didnt take my mrs though). Found a lump, doc couldnt find it but said I was ok. I could still find it so (eventually) got a second opinion, went for a scan and they said it was just some kind of cyst.

I was speaking to a physio who could not stress enough to check. She has seen a young man in his twenties with no legs, as the cancer spread and had to be amputated. Doesnt bare thinking about for something so avoidable.

And before you ask I believe he was recieving physio on a shoulder injury!

I have recently noticed this and i put it down to being the 'little strings' but im gonna get it checked out all the same. I changed my life insurance 6 weeks ago and there is a 2 month period before it takes full effect. Think i will wait 2 weeks and get an appointment.

same here, it went away after a while of its own accord. was pretty worried at the time though as my mum had just been diagnosed with cancer so i jist feared the worst.

odd feeling having a middle aged uncle albert lookalike fondling your balls though....

When I went for the scan it was a nice Chinese lady. She spoke with a very oriental accent and it took me a few goes to work out what 'hold pen is up' meant.

hehe. when i went to the GUM clinic [nothing wrong, just a check before i went bagless with the ex] i had an old guy doing the exam. then he asked if i would mind if a student doctor sat in. i said i didn't, then in walked one of the fittest girls i'd ever seen. i spent the rest of the session looking at the ceiling and trying to turn any other colour but crimson.

no, i said the hernia was "very low down" - because the hernia was so low, it was affecting my urinary tract and causing more swelling in my left testicles. On a couple of occasions i had bad bacterial infections in my epididymis(the scrotum) too

Anyway, the swelling was nothing compared to after my hernia operation, like sitting on a space hopper - fk me!

When i was younger i had a male friend. who lost both of his testicles to cancer at age 15 for one and 18 for the other. He is over 40 now, with adopted kids and is very happily married and more importantly fit and healthy and alive............

Not quite how I anticipated my first post on here, but this thread caught my eye.
I noticed a swollen testical quite a while ago - maybe 6 months. I ignored it for a while until it started to be painfull.
Went to the doctor hoping he'd dismiss it as a csyst, but he took one look and refered me immediately.
Saw the specialist and was booked in to have the cancerous testical removed at the earliest opertunity. So on 1st July I had the surgery.
Happy to say that I've recovered well and am now back to normal - riding the motorbike, mountainbiking etc.
Now waiting for my appointment with the Oncology dept who will decide if any further treatment is required. My C.T. scan was clear, but they said there is a slight possibility of some spread which can't be seen yet.

So, yeah, don't delay. If you find something, get it checked out sooner rather than later.

yes

Similarly for those in posession of girly bits, keep up to date with smear tests, mammograms etc and if anything looks/feels different then ffs get it checked.

Just been through the cycle of find a lump, have a biospy (fking OUCH), abnormal result immediately at scene, wait for proper lab results... the whole thing was vile especially the biopsy but ye gods how much worse it would be to end up doing surgery, chemo and so on and so forth...

Full lab results came back normal incidentally. smile

I'm going through the procedures at this very point in time - found it 3 weeks ago - went to docs few days later - who couldn't find it - then booked another appointment 2 weeks later (Monday) - he then managed to feel it - have a scan "in a few weeks the hospital will be in touch" but whilst I was there I asked for a 2nd opinion and they were both quite happy it was a cyst of some sort - but I almost demanded a scan.

Why can't I phone the hospital myself and make an appointment!!

I've had pain in my testicles for a long time, when I was younger it would come and go, seems to not come as much now though so when I found the lump I didn't worry too much that it was cancer. Probably had this recurring pain for 10 years now.

Still don't know what it is.

my left testicles.
I think you need to go back and complain about that hernia operation...
