Fun ways to get some excercise??
Discussion
Hi all,
I've decided its time to do something about my fitness/weight/wellbeing so need to take some excercise. The problem is I've been here before and usually focus too much on one thing, last time it was cycling, and get bored after 4-6 weeks.
I need a variety of things to do, preferably things that will keep me coming back because they are fun, not just good excercise. I also would like suggestions about what I can do in the winter months when its dark by the time I leave work.
So what do you do for fun/excercise?
All suggestions welcome.
Thanks

Surfing all the way
Ding! Just got into this to feed my lack-of-snow-time withdrawal symptoms! However, its easier for me in Bristol than someone in the city....
A few hours in the water is a PROPER work out - i can feel a whole new period of kit buying coming on after a great time on Sunday in Porthcawl.
Climbing is a good way to build upper body strength without getting bored in the gym. Although the gym itself is more interesting if you can get a training buddy.
For me bikes are the main sport just now. Usually get out on the bike 2 or 3 times a week. Can't say i have ever been bored doing this

*sniff* still rather be skiing

Im not a fan of the gym joined once and inevitably I would be walking, jogging, cross training next to a fat sweaty man (Or woman) why would I pay to be that close to that. Anyway I found I get plenty of excercise simply replacing short car journeys with walking or cycling, lunchtime I walk into town 20 mins each way, do that 3 times a week and its a couple of hours excercise, walk to the pub again a few hours walking, add in weekend mountain biking or walking with the family and your laughing.

Anyone know a good boxing instructor?
Ask HarryFlashmanActully though, current issues with boxing instructors aside, boxing is a great way to do exercise. Because it keeps you interested, and you need a baseline fitness to do it. So learning to box involves learning a skill, as well as a training regime designed to get you in shape.
Far more interesting than monging out on a treadmill for hours. I have been boxing since university in one way or another. Went back to it early this year, and the training regime that goes with it. Dramatic results, to be honest.
Plus I am now a ninja killing machine, obviously.
