right, folowing on from my weight gain post im looking to reduce body fat and cut a bit before my hols. So anybody got any advice on what supplements to use? Been reading a bit about ephidrine based supplements but not sure?

I use creatine already and try to have a protein shake after a weights session. I already do a good bit of cardio with running and cycling.

There's really only one way to do it and that's to create a calorie deficit: cut your food intake below the number of calories you're burning every day. Have breakfast and taper off your meals before bedtime so you don't have lots of food sitting in your stomach whilst you're sleeping.

I've tried Thermobol in the past, but after a couple of weeks (c.3) they make me go a bit screwy in the head! silly

I've heard that an ECA stack can help you lose fat quite quickly, but Ephedrine by itself is banned in the USA IIRC. Personally I'd stay away from it.

Products like Thermobol, contain a lot of stimulants, that baiscally send you hyper and accellerate your metabolism.

Promax Diet also contains around 120mg of caffine per serving, doing the same thing, whilst adding protein.

Taking the right protein shake after working out is essential. if you're taking a mass gainer, then you will do just that. You need to do a calorie defficiant diet, and use a good quality supplement, where you put on lean muscle rather than muscle and fat.

You'll balloon whatever you take unless you balance it with the right diet and exercies. Supps are what they say, supplements, ie they add to what you are already eating.

The USN is just protein, something like Maximuscle Pro-Gain has a lot more fat content per seving than a pure protein powder.

As for the weight loss pills, i'm not too sure, I've never seen any real difference with CLA (tried it for about 3 months), but they do have 200mg of Caffeine per pill (just a bit more than a double espresso) so if you take the reccomended 3 servings that's probably about 7 espressos a day!

Without the use of supplements, I would advise doing your cardio first thing in the morning before breakfast as this will burn your fat reserves as opposed to what you have eaten all day - About 45 minutes worth.

If you do want to use supplements then i would recomend T5's - These will give you an energy boost whilst suppressing your appetite, But be warned - these will make you feel like the Duracell bunny on acid and are normally best used before an active workout.

unfortunately doing cardio first thing in a morning isnt really an option due to working shifts. i have no fancy for pounding the streets at 4am.

I can't imagine recommending T5s to anyone I didn't know personally. They are pretty intense and I wouldn't want to be involved in someone else taking them. Depending on an individual's caffeine sensitivity, the effect may be unpleasant.

I have seen them advertised online, but I can't say I would trust buying that sort of supplement from an unknown/untried source.

Had a hunt around quickly T5 are a ECA stack. You'll get a massive buzz, be able to do loads in the gym, but you'll probably get a huge downer or Ephedrine crash after.

I've never done it, so this is hearsay. Personally, I'd cut back on the food or up the exercise or both. There's no magic way to quick fat loss that's not without it's price. IMHO.

Is that right, if you do cardio before breakfast you will burn of fat reserves? would that work for somone who is not cutting, i.e. if I am working out, protein shakes the lot and do cardio efore breakfast every day I will cut my bodyfat down while still gaining muscle mass?

cardio on the AM will set your metabolism up(ie speed it up) for the rest of the day hence its why its recommended.

I would personally stay away from Ephedrine as a quick fix for loosing weight. Go for a calorie deficit diet and eat correctly and aim to loose about 2 lbs per week, still doing plenty of Cardio.

Some good reading here, and I have a question.

Is there a reliable way to calculate your rate of calorie burn on a normal day?

For example, i'd like to know how many calories I burn by just living. I imagine, due to differing metabolisms, there's no ballpark figure?

Isn't the guideline 2500 for an average male per day?

I assume this would be a 'ball park figure' give or take a few hundred or so?

Hmm, running 5km apparently only burns about 500kcals for me. So I'll stop running and just eat less wink
