anyone used them? not overly interest in those that havent and think freeweights are the only way, yadaa yadaa.

i'm looking to lower the time/hassle of working out and like the idea of a morning run followed by 30 mins using bands/bodyweight. I have no need to get bigger/stronger (i'm 6ft6 and 18 stone already) - i just want to maintain what i have....if i thought i'd stay at 18 stone without resistance and protein shakes i'd just jog for fitness tbh.

They're not that great partly because you can accidentally vary the load while training (eg with bad form or by holding it differently with each pull) and partly because you don't really know how much you're pulling; it is like blindly picking up different dumbells between 3kg and 4kg with a choice of 100 different weights in between... if you see what I mean! Also, it's not easy to increase the load by a set amount eg as your strength grows, you move from 15kg to 20kg. I purely use them for rehab purposes and very specific work eg for drawing and holding a bow string (on a bow) or pulling and locking off as training for climbing.

Hope that helps?

It could be useful as a cheap, portable rowing machine eg you're in a hotel room, loop round the leg of a bed, sit on the floor, and pull. Which reminds me, when I've been away on business, I've taken the black (strongest) band with me just to do some sort of training.

i found them good for rehab, particularly for working the smaller supporting muscles. In my case shoulder reconstruction.

Any reason for not wanting to use free weights bud?

You dont have to spend many days, or much time using weights, just make it count.

Bands may help you to retain a some of your muscle, but i wouldnt want to rely on them.

Just type shoulder rehab in google, usually consists of internal/external rotation, look up rotater cuff muscles, these support the shoulder and can prevent shoulder dislocations if strengthened.
