Started back at the gym this week having not been for around 4 years!

I want to get some trainers that are more suited to running than my casual trainers (normally Adidas Goodyear).

Any recommendations for £50 or so?

go to a dedicated running shop. Its a must if you are serious about your runing as each brand fits differently. They will assess you, sometimes put you on a machine but certainly come up with a trainer thats best suited.

+1.
Dont just get some bog standard so called 'running shoe'. They will probably be fashion orientated. A running shop with look at how you run, your weight distribution etc and find you your most confortable one. This will help prevent, knee, hip, back problems etc. Expect to pay about £70 but its worth it.

When you know what suits you best you can find some good prices online.

You won't get the latest colours or designs but once you know what you're after you can save yourself a fair whack.

For the first time though I'd get do as suggested and seek advice from running shop staff who can examine your gait.

Cheers Guys.

I'm weighing in about 2 stone heavier than i'd like at the moment (hence the re-joining the gym).

It's my ankles that seem to suffer the most when running so that's something i'd like to get sorted before I get really in to this exercise lark again.

Try them all on and get the most comfortable ones. I've got a pair of Saucony's and they're the most comfortable shoes in the world - I absolutely love them. They've seen me through a few half marathons in my time. A mate tried the same pair and hated them.

Keep the motivation up. I joined a gym last night needing to lose 2 stone, fingers crossed I actualy go.

Good luck JQ.

I had a meeting in Aylesbury afternoon so popped into the Running Shop that was recommended above.

Ended up spending a bit more than planned (£85) but felt it was well worth it after the service I got. They got to me to run on the treadmill then made a recommendation based on my running style etc.

Cheers guys
