I'm type 2 too!

Diagnosed almost 9 years ago and lost loads of weight just prior to diagnosis.

If you're feeling pretty ste at the moment, once you begin to feel better, you may well gain weight anyway.

One way to add weight as a diabetic is to train hard if you can (i.e get to the gym regularly and do some weights) and eat good quality protein based meals. Brown rice, pasta etc as your carbs with good lean meats like chicken, tuna, turkey eggs etc for your protein intake. I am aware that carbs need to be watched, you can also snack on things such as nuts etc. Any form of exercise is beneficial for a diabetic (just make sure you don't go hypo) but from what I've read/heard regular workouts can also improve insulin sensitivity a small amount.

Hang in there dude!!!

Enjoy it! I lost a bit of weight, but the type2 meds I'm on, plus busy job and two small kids means my weight has ballooned and I'm a right fat bcensoredd now!

On a serious note, you should be able to get a referral to a dietician through your GP who will be able to help. Failing that, if you contact the Diabetes Department at your local hospital, they will have a dietician too and you should be able to make an appointment with them. I had to wait months for mine and I did get some advice from a PHers O/H (searching my mailfile for their name, but can't find them right now) in the meantime. You might find some advice on diabetes uk website too (http://www.diabetes.org.uk/).

Sorry I don't have much more, but all my research has been into losing it, rather than gaining it. Good luck!
