My right knee seems to be a bit bloated with fluid, above the knee cap and to each side. No real pain, just feels 'pressurised' if anything. Is this serious? I've no recollection of banging it or anything like that, but may have strained it a bit squatting in front of the computer for a couple of hours when the stool went missing....

I'm going to try to get to the docs tomorrow, but I fly offshore Wednesday morning so there is a chance I might not be able to get in to see him.

I'll try it tomorrow. It doesn't hurt at all, just feels sort of squishy and bloated.

Does it ease when you straighten it?

I've suffered with this sort of problem for the past 10 years (since I was 19). It comes as a result of driving 35,000+ miles a year.

Nothing the doctor has prescribed has worked, so I just put up with it and stretch the bd when it gets too much to bare. The pain goes completely and then slowly returns.

Strange though, as it disappears completely for a few months, then returns with avengence.

That's the thing, it doesn't really hurt, just twinges occasionally inside the joint if I walk a lot. I'm only worried because I'm sure it is not meant to be like this.

I'll second the ice packs - I've had fluid buildup on both my knee and my spine, although both were due to impact injuries. Both times, it was just ice that was recommended, and seemed to work.

The reusable icepacks that don't solidify are really good around the knee.
