stabbing pains in toes and hands

My other half has had this for the past few months on and off. Very sensitive skin apparently. When hands or feet have been in the sun, any slight touch, from a blade of grass even, sends a knife like pain that lasts for a few minutes. Sometimes if the wind is cool, it feels like icy rain on the skin.
T'was particularly bad last week-end, but can't get an appointment at the doc's until 21st July. Just wondered if anyone else can shed any light on this 'strange happening'.

No idea about the extreme sensitivity but - 21st July? That's outrageous!!! I think I would have a word with the practice manager about that unless she wants to see a particular Doc.
