My hip has really started playing up recently, It's fine when I'm sitting down but as soon as I stand up and straighten it (even before putting weight on it), it hurts like hell, then when I sit down again it hurts like buggery until I move it past a certain point then it is fine.

Walking isn't too bad but getting in the car has become a bit of a pain as well.

Could it be a trapped nerve? Is there anything I can do about it? I'm only 22, I shouldn't be falling apart yet surely?!?! weeping

Hi Nic is it the outside of the hip or inside i.e more near your groin area?

It's the outside.

google trochenteric bursitus ......it's blumming painful, however I'd see your gp and get him to either refer you to a hip specialist or physio...mind you you'll probably get to see the hip specialist before the physio as the NHS waiting lists are huge for physio in the community.

Thanks, sounds similar to what the other half had and it's interesting that one article I've seen says it can be worsened by prolonged time sat in bucket seats which figures as I often spend up to 6 hours at a time sat in one on road rallies or stage rallies.

Will try to make an appointment with the doc asap. Cheers!

No worries....I'm just recovering from FAI surgery and have outside hip pain as well so at the moment have nothing else to do apart from reply on forums!

yesAnd sitting on a wallet in your back pocket. I find it's usually easily sorted with exercise/stretches and deep tissue massage.
