Urticarial Rash?

My boyfriend has just called me up (he's away for the weekend). He has been getting urticarial rashes recently but taking one antihistamine usually clears it up. However he has had the current outbreak for ~24hrs, took the usual antihistamine which didn't work, so bought another type and took that too, but still no effect. He's in a lot of discomfort (pff, he didn't believe me when I used to get these rashes regularly!) and is meant to be working, so he's desperate...any idea what to do next, apart from go to the GP (which he'll do when he gets back)?

Keep on with the anti-histamine, it took my wife 4 days to get over an attack recently.

Go to chemist, get a big tub of sodium bicarbonate for about £1, big handful in a tepid bath will ease the discomfort.
