I'm 5'7, 13 stone and 22 years old, bit of a belly, 34 inch waist. My aim is that by the end of August to be no more than 12 stone, and by Christmas to be around 11-11.5 stone and keep it there.

For one week my diet has been:

Breakfast: Branflakes or 3 wheatabix and semi skimmed milk

Lunch: Tuna and sweetcorn + a banana or apple

Snack: Banana or apple

Tea: Well obviously it varies, I eat the normal stuff, spag bog, a roast on Sundays etc etc, but I've cut them down in portion size. I love vegetables, and eat most of them, same for salads.

I don't eat chips/ very little bread. Cut out chocolate/crisps etc and only have 1 or 2 beers a week. I don't miss chocolate or alcohol etc. I reckon I've cut a good 500 plus calories out of my daily diet. I'd have usually 2 chocolate bars in a day and a packet of crisps.

I usually start to feel a bit peckish a couple of hours before tea, but at all other times I feel fine, I drink 1.5 - 2 litres of water per day and two glasses of semi skimmed milk (one in the morning one in the evening) I do not drink Tea or Coffee. I have been the gym only once this week, and have lost nearly 4 pounds since last Friday. Generally I feel fine, my work trousers feel a bit looser and people say I'm looking thinner in the face, which is surprising after just one week .... but am I doing it right? Normally I would go to the gym 3 times a week (70% weights/30%cardio) plus a 10 - 15 mile bike ride on a Sunday.

Sounds a bit boring right there.

I'd throw in some more interesting foods. Nothing wrong with carbs if you are active to burn them off. Better to get more nutrients and calories and then burn it off improving fitness too!

Sounds like somewhere half way between where you were and what you are now doing would be the best bet to me anyway smile

I need to lose a bit of weight. Had a certain belt since I was 21, and gone up only 1 notch in the last 8 ish years, but really want to get back into a comfy almost back to that original notch again if I can smile
Great to see people losing weight and making a change, it's just keeping it off for, well, err, the rest of your life, that is the REAL challenge biggrin

Yes, it looks like you've completely cut out carbs (bar that in the fruit and veg which isn't much). It can cause long term health problems. Get some bread (brown stuff) in your diet and eat brown pasta. White carbs are highly processed.

And do some exercise.

The thing is, you're looking at losing weight not eating healthy? Two different things with two different ways of eating...

So the answer is, "No, your diet is not healthy."

Oh, 4lbs lost a week is a bit on the excessive side. Aim for 2lbs a week.
