Ok, maybe feeling a tad over weight at the moment (or a lot, this I will find out)

I'm 6ft 4 and weigh 16st 10lbs - I have never been small frame wise (36" waist now) and doubt I could EVER get into a 32" waist as my waist (pelvis) bones are too wide.

So over the last 2 weeks I have been reducing my daily intake of calories to 1500 and fat intake is low too.

I tend to eat in a day

1 Bowl of cereal - semi skimmed milk
1 coffee
1 Snack - i.e fruit & something low fat, maybe low fat Yog etc
Tea - Something healthy around 7-800 calories - low fat intake
Before bed - 1 glass of semi skimmed milk, 1 low fat Yog , 1 Biscuit

Now I know some will say cut out the biscuit etc but I am still way under recommended level's eating the above.

Am I destined to stay this weight or am I doing something wrong?

I want to lose a stone - a stone and a half...

what the hell for, im 5' 7" and 3 stone lighter i don't think you need to lose any weight, if you have a belly like i do, just try to exercise that away, you'll prob stay the same weight but you will feel much better for it.

If that intake is accurate it should be dropping off you.

I might have the odd thing here and there extra but I am fairly accurate. Anything I do eat is in proportion to me eating no more than 1500 calories. But nothing is happening...I have never been a big eater

You need to do some cardio and for that the above is not enough calorie wise. I can't see much protein above but I guess you include that for the evening meal?

What training/exercise are you doing? Food is only 50% of the battle.

If you really want to tone up (36in waist doesnt sound bad to me) Id be looking on a more dedicated forum, not sure if you can mention other websites on here. You will get advice from more clued up people on diet and training.

6'4'' and 12st10lb. I excercise most days and don't eat to excess. I heard that the best way to lose weight is High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). It is more effective than prolonged consistent movement like running. It involves 10-15 seconds of intense work, followed by 15-20 seconds rest. Do that and your fat will fly off

Very good thumbup

Are you doing any excercise as well?

I have just started my diet, and fully intend to walk 2 miles a day (I have heard it is an excellent way of shifting the midriff.)

Well I was having around 170g's of protein per day and eating more but I have moved and not been able to do my weights as there is no room in my new house (livid)

So going to join the gym but until then I wanted to cut down my calorie intake and see if I could lose a bit of fat....

When I start training again I will eat more and alot more protein etc...

Eggs, Tuna and Chicken are great cheap sources of protein, protein shakes are also good, but pointless if your not training to justify them.

With your weight and height, eating 1500 calories a day only should see you losing 2 lbs per week.

Have you lost any weight at all? Have you kept a food diary? Do you have 'treat' days? Do you drink alcohol?

To get it really coming off, you need to go to a gym

Just cutting down on your fat, etc (within reason) will see you losing a couple of lbs a week.

Make sure you have 3 square meals a day to keep the metabolism going. Fill up on vegetables.

In my experience, losing weight is a combination of exercise and eating a sensible amount of the right things, rather than a small amount of some wrong things.

Oh, and make the switch to fully skimmed milk. If you dare!

Edit - I'm 6'3" and just under 13 stone. If I didn't go to the gym, I'd be a lot bigger....

You need to account for everything, literally everything! If you miss a few things off each day it could, before you even realise amount to 3-400 calories, and all of a sudden you are no where near where you should be.

I have to say though, 1500 for someone of your size & weight is probably too low. Your body will go into starvation mode and store everything it can as fat.

I would be aiming around the 2k mark of a balanced diet, with the calories spread out far more evenly throughout the day rather than a big evening meal.

Couple this with some decent gym time and it will start falling off you smile

I'm 6ft2" and 12st9lb. Started the year off at 14st dead. I have seemingly plateaued now, i'm not so bothered about the weight, i'm aiming more at toning up and reducing fat content than becoming a stick insect.
