Measles after MMR
Discussion
I know a few of you on here know a fair bit about the MMR, so hoping someone can expand on our doctors comments.
Mini Davi had his MMR three weeks ago. Last Thursday he showed signs of being under the weather, which we had been told could happen so didn't worry unduly. Saturday he started being really down - really not himself at all, and Sunday he was barely able to stay awake for more than 1/2 hour at a time, and his temperature started climbing. Popped to the hospital walk in clinic where the doc said the heat, coupled with a virus, were the most likely and to keep an eye open and return to docs if needed.
Monday he had a rash on his back, so we took him to the docs who said it looked like measles as a result of the MMR, but it wasn't "full" measles", wasn't contagious and wasn't too much of a concern.
Could anyone expand on what she meant - Just putting him to bed, the temperature has gone but the rash now covers his entire body so it's kind of hard not to be concerned!!!

May not be the result of MMR although the timing is right for the second reaction to the jab. Some of the rashes our kids have had from viruses are amazing, one of them spent 2 days in hospital with suspected meningitus that turned out to be a viral thing.
I'm sure our little one this time had more of a reaction to the MMR that the other 2.

What you describe is a fairly common reaction post MMR (circa 6-10% of MMR vaccinations); The spots/rash and pyrexia are a reaction to the 'live' virus - but very, very mild and otherwise asymptomatic as compared to full blown measles and should clear in due course. Obviously if it doesn't - consult the Doc.

We experience the same thing. 2/3 weeks after our daughters first MMR she was rushed into hospital with suspected meningitis, but turned out to be IDP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopaenia) caused by the MMR. She was okay after a few days stay, but it took quite a while for her platelet count to pick up.I hope your little one is feeling better now. This heat we are having doesn't help. Make sure you keep his fluid intake up.
