I have had a problem with my left ear. I noticed it while using the phone and people started sounding as if they had a head cold. It got worse and I went to the Doc. He first gave me drops for the ear, and then steroids for the nose. After no help, he referred me. I had all the usual tests which showed good overall hearing. I then was referred to the John Radcliffe in Oxford for a proper test. They concluded my left ear has a half octave difference in sound with a echo / drone sound.
My right ear is fine and seems to compensate when listening "stereo".
It has got worse the last couple of days and it sounds like / almost feels like my left ear is in a bucket of water.
After the Oxford tests, they kind of said there was a problem but they don't know what it is or what they can do, and have basicly given up on me.

Anyone have any experience / ideas or advice? It is beginning to get to me.

I have had the same problem with my left ear for the past 3 months, so decided to visit my doctor last week. I was told that the problem was due to ear wax, and that I should use olive oil drops in the ear, and if the hearing problem persists, I should call back in a months time, and at this point in time it looks like I will be calling back at the docs.
