Just started including these in my work out... first simply because i wanted to see how many i could do, and now want to increase that number ( from 0 > 1 hahah )

Seriously just wondering what areas they are good for, at thew minute i do 3 sets on each, pulls ups = 3 sets of 7ish and chest dips 3 sets of 7-10ish

are they worth doing ?

thats what i was hoping, they are actually more fun at the minute than doing weights cause it just feels a more direct relation of strength

just takes a while to be able to do enough to make a routine out of it !

Definitely worth doing!

Pull up will primarily train your lats, and secondarily your bi-cep. It will depend how you hold the bar. Palms facing forward will place emphasis on your back, palms facing inwards will place emphasis on your bicep.

Dips will vary depending on how you do them. Lean forward as much as possible to put the emphasis on your chest, or a vertical as possible to put emphasis on your triceps.

Do you have a machine that offers assistance That way you can get your reps higher and slowly bring the assistance level down.

I incorporate them onto their relevant day, so I will do dips on a chest day, and pull-ups on a back day. I normally do dips at the end of a chest routine but do pull-ups at the beginning of a back day because of the effort required. ( will warm up with a little assistance)

I am indeed skinnier now due to not doing any heavy excrises for about 8 months, still in some pain.

My current weight is about 10.5st I was about 11st this time last year, also I'm only 5'6!!!!!

Lucky for me though is the fact that I was a 30" waist then and still am. My training has changed allot from very heavy to lots of reps, e.g where I was doing 3*5-8 reps @ 100kg's on bench press I am now doing 3*15-18 reps at 60kg's etc.

I love dips and have started using them in my routine a few weeks ago.

I dont go for quantity but rather use a belt and chain to put a 15kg plate onto it and then dip using this plus my body weight, recon im just about ready for 20kg's, tend to do 3 sets of 8 to finish off an arms workout.

As said you can make them focus different areas, and form is very important.

Don't do dips but do chins (not pull ups). Found that I got stuck with the number I was doing so now I just keep adding weight to dipping belt. It's weird cos I can do just as many reps with weight on the belt than without weight... But cannot increase the number without the weight.

Anyone tried one of these:

http://www.jmldirect.com/The-Original-Iron-Gym-PI8...

??

I am considering shipping one in, as pull ups are my nemesis.

I put this down to having fat legs and no upper body strength biggrin

I thought I was doing alright being able to do 22.5kg (and not many reps either!!)

maybe I should take up lawn bowls or something smile

If it works without ripping the doorframe down, that looks awesome!

He would look a bit odd. His arms would have to be around 24 inches big and his back would be like a 10 year old girls.

Bicep curl your own bodyweight then start working on your back. Don't talk complete and utter tripe for crying out loud.
