I jolted my neck whilst out climbing (my regular hobby) on BH Monday. The pain is where the neck meets the shoulder on my left hand side. The last couple of days my neck will get stuck looking to the left and the pain is such that its easier to move my whole body to the right to look that way rather than turning my head. Any ideas what I have done? Could it be a pulled trapezoid? I know it sounds daft but it is really affecting daily life.
I have booked in with a doctor but this isn't until Monday.

I did this for years after I gave up the gym and my job and riding a motorcycle agravated things greatly. It's a horrible thing and you have my sympathy!
I never worked out if it was a trapped nerve or a strained muscle but one thing is for sure, once I'd started doing gym again especially lat pulls and shrugs, the problem has never come back.
If you have trouble sleeping because of the pain get your quack to prescribe you some Tetrazepam tabs (sedative/muscle relaxant).
