Today I have experienced the worst of my life. Pain in right lower lumber region which gave so much nausea that it made me vomit. Off to local hospital and confirmed little stones in the ureters. PAIN like no other. Thank god for morphine 20mg which still is affecting me. But stones passed and feeling much better. What a day---up at 4am and its over now. Anyone else had them? Been told one is present dormant in left kidney....no treatment...just have to wait for movement. well at least I now know if I get it diagnosis is there.

Never had one but seen a few unfortunates with them. The very thought of having one is enough for me.
I can't imagine the pain of a little jagged rock scraping its way through your pee-pipe is something you'd want to repeat any time soon !

Apparently we pass tiny ones all the time, so small we never notice them.

At least its all over and you got some happy juice, most docs I know would give nothing stronger than Voltarol. It seems to work though, obviously depends on the pain level at the time.

I had them but I was given pills that enabled them to dissolve.

I had them a few years back (caused by too much protein in my diet).

I thought I'd pulled my back at first and went into A&E expecting to be given some painkillers and sent on my way.

Traige nurse diagnosed kidney stones and I was kept in for 3 days. The pain got worse over the first night and I ended up bent over on the floor of the ward screaming in agony. It was around half an hour before the duty doc came round and gave me the morphine and during that 30 minutes I would have gladly died to get rid of the pain.

Absolutely worst pain possible imo.

Only time i have seen grown men cry, just hope i never experience it.I always give morphine when this is suspected(paramedic).Surprised that most docs only give Voltarol.

I had them when working in Germany, pain came on slowly at 7.00 am , pain was deep inside lower back and felt serious, was in hospital at 10.00am in intense pain....went into the loo at doctors request being supported by two female nurses to give a urine sample .....and had a pee...pain went immediately, very surreal hanging there between two nurses, like being carried by angels. I guess they were small stones, the pain was apparently as they left the kidneys on their way to the bladder, doctor called them needles upon analysing my ( copious ) sample.

Good news was my local German Quack said I should drink more beer ( German beer very pure, only 3 ingredients allowed by law I believe )to keep my kidneys flushed........now that`s the sort of health advice you remember
