Chiropractor. Am I being ripped off
Discussion
my experiences whith chiros and osteos have all been rubbish.
Physio, correct posture and keeping mobile via walking, swimming etc have worked way better for me.
I may be a little paranoid about them but I just got the feeling that I was being fleeced, especially when they could never give me a definite on how many more sessions I would need...
My mate was going to a chiro for about 5 years every 3 weeks £25 a time, thats over 2 grand! He stopped going, changed his sedantry lifestyle a bit, got fit and has never been back...

Agree..same here..wasting money as your spine wil go back to it's incorrect position. Depending on posture etc..Best advice is to start swimming. I also do Traithlon's now..lol
Worked for me. I had lower back problems for several years, continual aches, couldn't stand up for too long. Then I started exercising, just some weights, sit ups, flexing, walking, core strength exercises. Two weeks later the pains had stopped! They only come back if I slack off for several months, which I rarely do.
You need to strengthen your core, to hold your bones and other junk in place, or they slip and slide and sit unnaturally.
Over a period of two months the length of my sessions got shorter and shorter until the last five visits I had I was getting a 5 minute session for £26.
Also, there did seem to become a point beyond which I felt I'd ground to a halt in terms of useful progress with Chiropracty after initially very impressive results and the feeling of being ripped off just compounded this.
Unsurprisingly I abandoned it in favour of the rather more cost-effective (and fitter) work-based Physio who offered her services gratuitously who was also able to offer a usefully different perspective on my lower back problems.

I pay £35 for a session, which can last 15 mins or 30 mins, depending what needs clicking.
I first went to the chiropractor three years ago because I couldn't lift my left arm without significant pain. I can't remember how many times I went back, but the problem got fixed and I had been doing Pilates regularly until about six months ago. I hadn't had any pain in that time until six weeks ago, when I rolled over in bed and put the joint in my back out again. I couldn't move the top half of my body and every movement was extremely painful, but I got clicked and walked out of there with much more movement. I've been going weekly for the last six weeks and seem to be fixed. I'll go back again in a month.
I have also started doing Pilates again, so for me, yes it works, but a sedentary lifestyle with no exercise is not going to help the problem.

£35 for 25mins here (B'ham) and at least mine is female and attractive !
It depends what you go in for as to whether its worth it.
My back 'clicks out' she clicks it back in and its instantly 100%.
The period between when it clicks out again depends what I'm doing but is frequently 3 months plus, so worth it to me.
