... is obviously recommended, but when you are running at maybe 60-80% effort, what rhythm do you use? In through nose, out through mouth?

I find that if I in/out through mouth, I get very thirsty, but I can't get enough air in through my nose.

Also, lots of short breaths or less larger ones?

I find deep breathing through the mouth more comfortable.

just concentrate on breathing out, your body will do the breathing in for you.

I use controlled deep breaths. Works well for me. In through the nose and out through the mouth for me, just because it's more comfortable.

In my jogging days, i'd start off breathing in through my nose and out through my mouth, until the last of the 8 miles when I found breathing through my mouth the easiest (and sometimes only) option.

DO you breath every second step, ie on your right step you breathe in, and the the next right step you breathe out?

I don't really have a rhythm that I'm aware of, I just try and get as much in as possible!

Should I have one?

i think they normally tell you to go for a wee as that should flush it out.

Also, try to alter which side you start breathing in/out on to avoid getting a stitch

One thing I am finding is that my stomach feels like it is full to bursting with air, almost like I'm swallowing air when I run!

Any ideas apart from throwing Rennies down the spout?
