Managed to twist my left ankle over the weekend flexing my moves on the dance floor on Saturday night . This is 2nd time I've done it to my left ankle. I've also done my right one a couple of times in the past (think I must have weak ankles ). Last time I twisted it, over a year ago, I did it big time and needed an x-ray followed by a few weeks of physiotherapy (which I paid for privately as the NHS wasn't interested in getting it sorted quick enough).
It's not as bad as the last time and I can still walk/hobble on it. I can also flex the ankle forward/backward ok but side to side movement is more difficult. It's slightly swollen and has started to go a little purple on the outside. I've done all the usual things (elevation, rest, compression etc) but was wondering at what point it is worth getting physiotherapy? Or should I just save my pennies and let nature/time do it's thing?

Physio does help massivly, as long as you get someone who really knows their stuff... i know someone in London who is excellent if that helps ?
Other little things like brushing your teeth standing on one leg will really help... Anything that strengthens the ankles muscle... making sure you stretch out your calves as well as that can cause ankle problems

I've managed to twist my left ankle many times and it is now quite floppy. It's frustrating I know but just give it time. One exercise I was given was to fold up your duvet a couple of times and stand one legged on it on your bed, your ankle muscles will all activate to keep you balanced. The reality your outer ligaments will not get back to their original length, but eventually your body will start to compensate. You'll be fine.

Also I am hurting left ankle now. Normally I run 5-10km everyday, and recently found the ankle was funny. (Knee as well!) According to the some books, after you take shower (bath is better) you should some stretch with them. I really wanna back to run, hopefully it would work well. I would like to hear further opinion
