An article in this morning's paper stated that the incidence of STDs in under-16s has jumped by 58% year-on-year, with chlamydia up 90%!

So where did chlamydia come from? Diseases like syphilis and gonorrhea have been around for centuries, but even back in the 1980s - when I was a teenager - there wasn't a disease called chlamydia.

Who did it? Who shagged some odd mammal and infected our teenagers?

It too has been around for centuries -while it had been thought to have been a virus, it was picked up on as a bacterium in the sixties but wasn't formally identified as an STD until the nineties.
Genetically, it's as close to a plant as anything so more a case of who got so pissed they shagged a filthy sluttish hardy perrenial. How stfaced do you have to be to fancy one of those?
