just reading this article:-

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8056028.stm

now the poepl in this drank huge amounts 3litres plus per day ! But should normal people who drink maybe 4 cans a day worry about drinking too much diet cola ?

From what the can says it has very little in so 4 cans a day can't do to much harm surely ?

fizzy and acidic...both will remove calcium from the teeth ...so leading to advanced enamel erosion, which leads to increased sensitivity and wear & tear. Should only be consumed in moderation.

Diet cola contains aspartimine! which is a neuro toxin if taken in large quantities! and is known to damage the brain.

4 cans a day is WAY to much sugar. I gave up Coke (the drink) a couple of months ago as I started to NEED the caffiene to give me a kick. If I went a day without drinking a can I got such bad headaches, now only drink water and fruitjuice in the morning, and maybe a Diet Coke if I go out for a meal. Feel much better for it smile

Does seem a lot, do you need it, can you drink coffee for the caffeine and juice for the thirst?

I used to think a can a day was too bad for me

Diabetes is another issue even if your teeth are fine. Plus sugar converts to fat which leads to fat-related issues. Also, can result in onset of early osteoporosis (that's the thinning and brittling of bones) - certain chemicals encourage the body to release calcium from the bones IIRC. This is for all fizzy soft drinks, not just coke.

I believe that combining it with JD negates the adverse effects.

Years ago a mate was in the Times for drinking coke. He only had one can a night, but sipped it over hours so it completely mullered his teeth!

This explains a lot.
Diet coke drinkers are predominantly women.

Hmmmmm.

Forget your teeth. Too much pop and diabetes and obesity are the concern. Have you seen how much sugar is in a can of pop??

I have a can of 7Up on my desk that has been there for months. It contains 35g of sugar...

My sister in law, who is a serious head case, got hooked on coca cola while back. She was drinking 15 cans of the stuff a day and wondered why she put on about 4 stone. Er, well dear, it's like this; the equivalent of 128 spoons of sugar a day, plus all the chemical crap won't have any detrimental effects on your health will it ffs!!

Hence why a can of pop is now a very occasional treat rather than a means of hydration, which when it comes down to it it isn't very good at.
