Well folks, after years of abuse my doctor has told me in no uncertain terms that i have to change as my liver is making a fuss. Its now been two weeks with out alcohol and a reduced fat intake.

The going without alcohol isn't proving a problem despite my previous threads on boozing, however keeping the fat intake down is challenging and requires more effort and thought for meals.

Im thinking of getting some extra enthusiasm in the shape of Alli, if you eat to much fat it dribbles out of your bum which sounds disgusting but will certainly make you think before eating fatty foods.

so, has anone had any experiance of it? It seems expensive to me at 42 a packet and you will use probably 2 tabs a day.

Oh, if it helps im currently burning between 500 and 1000 cals a day in exercise and eating under 2000 cals of food and drink.

BRING ON THE FAT JOKES!

Depending on your height and current weight you'll loose body fat at an alarming rate with that amount of exercise and diet.

That is the way to do it - rapid weight change either way aren't good for you. Plus i wouldn't want to be messing with anything that causes you to have leaky plumbing.

Avoiding fat shouldn't be too hard, just plan ahead with what you have in the fridge - say 1 pizza per week, plenty of veg and other unprocessed foods - chicken, beef etc. If you do eat out, be sensible about it - you dont need to be a pain in the arse about it like that gillian mclooksatyourpoo bint, just be sensible.

Forgot to add, if you keep the exercise up or increase your intensity, you may need a few more calories - from memory, around 500 calories is what you want to be in deficit each day for weight loss while maintaining energy levels and muscle mass. Currently, you are anywhere between 1000 and 1500 in deficit each day (2500 RDA) if you start getting tired or feel hungry, eat - you body knows what it needs.

This may be nonsense, but i seem to remember hearing something like that from a nutritionist on a triathlon podcast, so it is aimed at athletes who need their energy and muscle mass, so it may be different for people who arent training the whole time.

There is something inherrently wrong with this.

A pill for weightloss.

Eat less fat, sugar and processed food.

Eat more fresh fruit and veg.

Exercise.

Change your lifestyle.

It's just SO wrong.

I'm no doctor, but if your liver is angry I'd avoid taking in additional chemicals that could make it angrier. Crash dieting won't help you any. Fibrous foods will help. You don't have to eat as much to feel full.

Also, something that has helped me lose weight: eating slower. Gulping down your food doesn't give your body time to realize it's full. Scarfing down food fast was my problem. Now I eat less.

I disagree

I have just started with Alli (1 week in and 1/2 stone off) having put on 3 stone in the last 5 years due to lifestyle.

I agree with your prognosis on how to lose weight and Alli provides the motivation to do it. If you take this pill and eat fatty food, then the consequences are not good (this forum is far too polite to explain in graphic detail) therefore the pill is good becuase it encourages you to do all the things you said for fear of the alternative!

Out of interest, do you fancy eating a stick of butter just so we know what happens?
