Preventing mozzie bites
Discussion
I always get eaten alive and react very badly (big blisters, leprosy type reaction) dreading having big itchy bites in a hot sweaty Baja
Does anyone know if these things you can take actually work? Brewers yeast, Vit B complex?
I'll be getting plenty of DEET super strength but the little buggers always seem to get me still!
What do you all use?
Thanks

up here in canada this is what seems to work best: www.watkinsonline.com/pdf/products/InsectRepellent...
- maxxed out with deet. We have mozzies the size of small birds!
There is no cure but watkins works better than most

Not sure how you avoid them other than DEET but if you can get some anti-histimine tablets they certainly help with the itching. Friend swears by leaving pots of malt vinegar out in the bedroom at night -p seems to attract the mossies who then drown in it!
Loose clothing (I've been bitten through my clothes) also a good idea!

Decent mossie spray and mossie coils at night if you can.
Buy the mossie spray locally, often the stuff from camping shops in the UK has stuff all DEET in it but lots of perfume where the local stuff tend to be full strength.
Be carefull with it though, it will strip paint and melt plastic if your sloppy with it. Try not to put it on your face and head (low strength stuff for there)...if you sweat it will run in to your eyes and you tend to forget its there and rub your face and then your nose and eyes. It stings if your skin has been irritated by sweat or sunburn.
Make sure you wash your hands after rubbing it in to.
I find over the counter hayfever tablets with Desloratadine help with the itching and I dont get the big welts that the bite normally gives me.
If the itching is unbearable Tiger Balm helps me but dont put it on if you have already itched it and broken the skin.
Of course the best solution is to show the local people your bites. The locals ALWAYS have the best prevention and relief methods!

Maybe it's just coincidence but have always found that those of us that eat marmite on a regular basis don't seem to get bitten anywhere near as much as non marmite lovers.
Marmite is full of B vitamins, hence my OP about supplements I hate marmite lol!Tuscanless Ali said:
